As promised!! Today on SharkBites we catch up with SkillShark Software Developer, Justin! Justin has been working on an exciting feature within SkillShark that allows coaches to communicate evaluation data with athletes and parents. Let’s check in with him to see what he has to say about this exciting new development…
The Athlete Locker Room
Welcome to the new and exciting feature that is Athlete Locker Room!
Are you a coach that really wishes you could provide athletes better feedback, telling them where they need to improve? Or maybe to let them know where they ranked among the competition? Athlete Locker Room (ALR) allows you to send out individual reports to each athlete with a few easy clicks. It will show them their strengths, weaknesses and where they ranked among their peer group. SkillShark is all about athlete development, and we want to help athletes out as best we can...ALR does just that!
So, how does ALR work? The option to use Athlete Locker Room happens at the end of the evaluation process. Before accessible, coaches must first complete the regular evaluation steps within SkillShark. After adding players, creating events and evaluating athletes, coaches can then invite players to view their custom reports.
Although exciting and beneficial in most cases, ALR is not a mandatory feature within SkillShark. It has three settings so that coaches and organizations can customize who sees what data, and when they see it.
Disabled is the default setting when you create a group in SkillShark. If you chose to keep your data confidential and don’t want to provide this feedback, it won’t happen. If you want to share the data, you will need to chose one of the next two settings.
Next, there is Auto-Notify. Auto-Notify will send out reports for the evaluation event once all evaluators have submitted data. Auto-Notify also has a cool feature where you can save optional messages for the athletes, controlling what message gets set out. Coaches can choose to enable or disable evaluators comments that have been made during the evaluations process.
Finally, there is the Manual setting. If the Manual setting for Athlete Locker Room is turned on, you can manually select which players you want to send results to for selected events. This allows you to customize when evaluation information gets shared, and who it gets shared with.
So, what does the process look like for an athlete? If a coach has enabled Athlete Locker Room, athletes will receive an email for an evaluation event with a click link. When they select the link, they will be directed to either sign-up for a SkillShark account or will prompted to login (if they already have an account). Once the athlete has signed up or logged in, they can select which events they want to view a report for, and... BOOM! A PDF is downloaded for the athlete and they can view their results.
Athlete Locker Room allows coaches to share data and information so that players can use it to improve. It adds a modernized step to the evaluation process that can only be completed with SkillShark's technologies. The best part? Athlete Locker Room is available in all SkillShark accounts.
